Entrance Essay Writing Tutorial: Asking For Help

Writing your college entrance essay without any guidance can be extra challenging. This is why it is a good idea to get help from a mentor or instructor when you are attempting to compose your college application. If you are stuck on your entrance essay, do not hesitate to look for someone to help you with the writing process. High School guidance counselors, admittance counselors and fellow students can all offer unique perspectives and helpful advice. If you are truly determined to be accepted into your school of choice, take the time to get a bit of counseling before you sit down to write.

Guidance Counselors

Your high school counselor will not only offer you some tips for writing. They may have some helpful advice to offer regarding the standards and expectations of the particular school that you are applying for. If you aren't sure how to get started- ask your guidance counselor for some entrance essay samples to read. By studying an example you may get a better idea of how to format and prepare a winning entrance essay.

College Student

Another good idea is to approach a student who attends the post secondary institution that you are applying for. If you ask them politely them may be willing to let you read their entrance essay so that you have a concrete example of what a successful paper looks like. This is also a good way to get some first hand insights about the school. It never hurts to talk to a potential peer and find out more before you make up your mind about applying.

Admittance Counselors

Some institutions have their own admittance counselors for students to speak to. It may be a good idea to make an appointment and speak to them personally because they will give you great advice for writing a successful application. If you are planning on visiting the campus anyways, make a point of speaking to someone directly your entrance essay. Most of the time they will be happy to offer advice to students who take the time and effort to ask for help. They may even have an example on file that they can give you for a study aid- do not be afraid to inquire.
